Our Watersport4green team recently enjoyed an absolutely superb day, culminating in a final meeting to wrap up this wonderful collaboration of watersports enthusiasts, aimed at promoting environmental awareness among school and university students in Italy, Portugal, and Ireland.
An International Partnership for the Environment
This initiative brought together different nations, uniting students and communities in an educational project designed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection through watersports. Specifically, the Irish partnership was carried out through Corrib Beo and their Education Pillar, Eco Advocates/EcoEd4All.
Corrib Beo is an organization dedicated to the conservation and promotion of Lough Corrib, a lake of great ecological and cultural importance in Ireland. Their EcoEd4All program aims to educate and engage young people in sustainable activities, perfectly aligning with Watersport4green’s goal of combining sporting passion with environmental awareness.
A Special Event at Gráinne Mhaol Rowing Club
We had the honor of being invited to a special event at Gráinne Mhaol Rowing Club, an occasion to celebrate the ongoing support of key figures such as Cllr Frank Fahy of Lough Corrib Navigation Trust and Jason Craughwell of Galway City Council and Galway Sports Partnership.
The support from these entities has been fundamental to the success of our initiative. Cllr Frank Fahy played a crucial role in supporting our efforts to promote environmental awareness through sports activities, while Jason Craughwell provided valuable contributions through Galway Sports Partnership, promoting local sports participation and inclusion.
Final Reflections
The day was not only an opportunity to reflect on the successes achieved but also to plan future projects and collaborations. Our mission to combine the passion for watersports with environmental protection will continue to guide us, inspiring us to involve more and more young people in this noble cause.
